The Historic Hill Association held it's trash cart workshop Thursday evening May 8 at 6:30 PM at the Newport public library.
Representing the city were City Manager Jane Howington, William Riccio Director of Public Services and Kristin Littlefield Coordinator of the cities Clean City Program. Also in attendance were city counselors Kathryn Leonard, Marco Camacho, and Jean Napolitano.
Jane and Kristin gave a half hour presentation explaining the program and then took questions from the floor. About 40 people attended the workshop and over half asked questions.
The city had examples of the different size carts to show the audience. Most people in attendance felt that the small size cart would be more suitable for their property and personal use. Jane explained that when the program goes into operation there will be only one garbage truck that is divided in two, one side for garbage and one side for recycle, so this will mean less trucks on the street which is good for the hill and the point.
Workshop lasted until 8:30. If anyone has any further questions about the program or was not able to attend they can contact Kristin Littlefield at 845-5642 or via email HERE
